<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This evening 26/04/2012 between the hours of 17:00 - 19:00 GMT we will be repointing the IP address for our mail service. This will involve mail server reconfiguration and DNS zone updates.</p>
<p>Some customers may experience a temporary restriction to receive imcoming mail between this time, although we expect no issues with outgoing mail. There may also be a temporary period where the mail control panel will be unavailible.</p>
<p>We apologise for any inconvenience caused and please log a ticket with us in the support suite if you have any problems with the mail service once the maintenance is complete.</p>

<p>On Tuesday 1<sup>th</sup>&nbsp;November 2011 we will be updating our MS SQL 2008 Database service&nbsp;to R2, this provide more functionality for all users of this service.&nbsp;This upgrade process will be carried out during a maintenance window between the hours of 17:00&nbsp;-&nbsp;21:00 GMT on 1/11/2011</p>
<p>This upgrade will involve the downtime of MS SQL 2008 services between this time, however we hope to complete this well within the specified window and we hope to get the service up and running again as soon as possible.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>We will be making a full backup of all databases on the server before the upgrade process but we would also advise any users of this service to also complete a backup of their databases. This can be done through the panel: http://panel.4dhosting.com by going to the database, selecting "Maintenance Tools", clicking on "Backup" and then selecting the destination.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>As a result of this emergency maintenance the Smartermail service will be unavailable overnight tonight, starting at 17:00 GMT 06/10/2011.</p>
<p>The full service will resume as soon as the upgrade process has been successfully completed and tested.</p>

Although this upgrade was thoughily tested on a testing platform the upgrade on the production server did not go to plan due to errors with the software. After the failed version upgrade we decided to revert back to version 4 and the service is functioning just as it was previously. All settings have remained the same and all mail remained intact.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>We have contacted the software vendor and are working closely with them to fix the problems which occured during the upgrade. We will be planning another upgrade window to complete this and you will be informed in advance as to when this will be.</p>
